Blink 182 delay their new record ANOTHER year and postpone their 2011 tour of Europe. C'mon boys, we're all waiting!

Californian Pop-Punk band Blink-182 have postponed their 2011 trip to the UK, writing on their site:

“It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce that our planned 2011 European Summer tour has been rescheduled. When we booked the tour last year, we were confident that we would have the new album out before the summer.”

Where’s that NEW Record?

If you’re a die-hard fan like me, waiting anxiously for them to venture your shores, it seems as if this new record isn’t getting written fast enough!

Blink announced their re-forming at the 51st Grammy Awards in 2009, they went on tour shortly after, playing a ‘greatest hits’ showcase before claiming that they were working hard in the studio, plugging away at a brand new record.

But apart from the occasional Twitter update by any of the three band members, not a vocal-chord has leaked that would give the fans a sign that the new record is even underway.

These guys are either keeping this album secretly under wraps or - let’s hope not - they’re having a bit of trouble writing it.

All that can be said is, as each day rolls on to the next, the hype for the new record intensifies and the pressure of a successful album mounts on top of the amazing discography the boys have already established over the past two decades.

The Relationship

We all know the boys had a tiff back in early 2005. Tom Delonge supposedly quit and turned his back on the other two, which led them to put the band on “indefinite hiatus”.

After the split, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker formed their band Plus 44, forcing Delonge to go his own way which eventually led him to form a trippy project band by the name of Angels and Airwaves - both bands received little to moderate success, releasing albums, but not gaining the hype of Blink.

Hoppus wrote a song with his band Plus 44 titled ‘No It Isn’t ‘containing some rough lyrics about a relationship…or… friendship going to tatters. At the time it was rumoured that the song was directed at Delonge and his falling out with Blink.

It has been reported that Delonge has been tracking guitar takes for the record in a seperate state to Barker and Hoppus.

It's even more inriguing that Hoppus has packed up his things and now resides in England - if there was an emotional distance in their friendship before, it has now leapt to a physical level.

Are they finding it hard to work together after the years they spent apart? After all that arguing they did when the band split in ’05, one can't help to wonder whether they have REALLY come to a combined truce and sorted out their indifferences. Time will tell.
